Job Summary
We are looking for a meticulous CAD Drafter in Montgomery, Alabama, to assist with product engineering by producing and altering 3D models, technical schematics, and specifications. This position is essential for ensuring the integrity of engineering data and maintaining configuration control for various mechanical product lines. The successful candidate will demonstrate substantial experience with CAD applications, a robust grasp of drafting principles, and the capability to work synergistically in engineering and manufacturing settings.
Responsibilities
- Create 3D and 2D representations from measurements, sketches, existing designs, and laser scanning data.
- Manage engineering change requests through CAD tools, including SolidWorks and AutoCAD.
- Implement ASME Y14.5 standards and GD&T to create and amend technical drawings.
- Maintain and revise Bills of Materials (BOMs), focusing on part numbers and release information.
- Prepare technical specification documents for both internal and external stakeholders.
- Aid in engineering change management to uphold data accuracy and configuration control.
- Offer technical assistance to manufacturing and other teams to address product-related challenges.
- Contribute to the design, development, and launch of product enhancements that meet regulatory and customer standards.
- Support certification-related activities, including testing and documentation for products under regulation.
Qualifications
- Associate degree in Drafting, Design Technology, or a comparable field (or equivalent experience).
- Proficiency in 2D and 3D CAD software, with a preference for SolidWorks.
- Knowledge of ASME Y14.5 drafting standards and GD&T principles.
- Experience in an engineering or manufacturing context.
- Familiarity with mechanical parts and manufacturing techniques, such as casting and machining.
- Competency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Access).
- Experience with precision measurement instruments like calipers and micrometers.
Preferred Qualifications
- Advanced skills in SolidWorks.
- Background working with regulated products or in controlled industries such as aerospace.
- Understanding of certification protocols and testing standards.
