The Career Specialist Instructor plays a vital role in the execution and management of educational programs within one of our partner public school systems. The curriculum is designed to cultivate soft skills, which are instrumental in helping graduates achieve successful employment, sustain their positions, and progress in their careers. Instructors are fully accountable for delivering this curriculum, which encompasses classroom teaching, as well as mentoring and tracking current and former students in the program, as well as submitting grades to the school administration. They also act as mentors, leaving a significant impact on youth in the community and supporting them in reaching their academic and professional aspirations.

Key Responsibilities of the Career Specialist Instructor:

  • Oversee a group of students at a designated public educational facility.
  • Develop and deliver curriculum by following instructional guidelines and planning detailed lesson plans and teaching outlines.
  • Utilize diverse teaching methods, including lectures, demonstrations, group discussions, and experiential learning activities.
  • Document and verify that all students complete the required community service activities.
  • Guide students in finalizing their career plans by the end of the academic year.
  • Establish and nurture positive relationships with students throughout the academic year.
  • Foster good relationships with school administration, the school community, and parents.
  • Maintain and regularly update the program database to keep track of student and program information for organizational analysis.
  • Devise strategies to reconnect with inactive program participants.
  • Comply with all policies and procedures as stipulated by the organization and the associated public educational institution.
  • Collaborate with school counselors to develop plans that ensure students remain on track to graduate.
  • Engage in school events at the designated public educational institution.

Qualifications for the Career Specialist Instructor:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a pertinent field (e.g., Education, Social Services) from an accredited institution required.
  • At least 6 months of experience working with at-risk high school students in teaching, mentoring, or coaching roles.
  • Experience with managing databases and data entry.
  • Must possess valid transportation for travel to and from school locations, offices, and potentially other partner high schools.
  • Must successfully pass a background BCI/FBI check as a prerequisite for employment.

Work Environment:

  • This role is mainly conducted in one of our partner public educational institutions throughout the school year, with office duties during the non-school year.
  • Regular interaction with team members, vendors, partners, school administrators, and students is expected.
  • Work environments may involve exposure to various conditions that fall outside of a standard office setting, including extreme temperatures, noise, or other potential hazards.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively.
  • Ability to bend, rotate, and reach as needed.
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull items weighing over 25 lbs.
