Job Summary
The Certified Surgical Technician plays a vital role in assisting healthcare professionals during surgical procedures, ensuring a sterile environment, and promoting patient safety. This position focuses on preparing surgical instruments, supporting surgeons and nurses, and maintaining operational efficiency in the surgical suite.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and maintain the sterile field by ensuring all instruments and supplies are ready for surgical procedures.
- Assist surgeons and surgical staff by passing instruments and materials during operations.
- Monitor and maintain the cleanliness of the operating room before, during, and after surgery.
- Assist in patient positioning and preparation for surgery, ensuring their comfort and security.
- Adhere to infection control protocols and maintain patient safety standards throughout the surgical process.
- Participate in the inventory management of surgical supplies and instruments, reporting any shortages.
- Provide support post-operatively by ensuring that instruments are cleaned and properly stored.
Qualifications
- Certification as a Surgical Technician from an accredited program.
- Knowledge of surgical instrumentation and aseptic techniques.
- Ability to communicate effectively with surgical teams and other healthcare personnel.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail in high-pressure environments.
- Current knowledge of healthcare regulations and best practices in surgical care.
