Job Summary
The Medical University of South Carolina is in search of a Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) to join the operating room team. This position entails serving as a scrub person, assisting the surgeon, and functioning as a circulator during various patient procedures, all while working under the supervision of a registered nurse. The role may also require the candidate to undergo cross-training within the surgical department.
Responsibilities
- Assist in preparing the operating room for surgical procedures.
- Function as a scrub person during surgeries, ensuring that all instruments and supplies are sterile and ready for use.
- Provide assistance to the surgeon throughout operations as required.
- Act as a circulator during surgical interventions, managing the flow of the procedure and coordinating with nursing staff.
- Participate in cross-training opportunities within the surgery department to enhance skill sets.
Qualifications
- Current certification as a Surgical Technologist (CST).
- Experience in a surgical setting is preferred.
- Strong understanding of surgical procedures and sterile techniques.
- Ability to function well in a team environment under pressure.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
