Certified Surgical Technologist
Location: Cleveland, Ohio
As a Certified Surgical Technologist (CST), you will play a vital role in the operating room, ensuring that surgical procedures are conducted safely and efficiently. Collaborating with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and nursing staff, you will be tasked with preparing the surgical environment, upholding sterile techniques, and proactively addressing the needs of the surgical team throughout operations. The ideal candidate excels at attention to detail, possesses strong communication skills, and shows a deep commitment to ensuring patient safety.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare the surgical suite by arranging instruments, equipment, and sterile draping.
- Confirm and organize necessary supplies, ensuring all required surgical instruments and implants are available.
- Uphold strict aseptic and sterile technique protocols during surgical procedures.
- Assist surgeons during operations by providing instruments, sponges, and other essential supplies.
- Anticipate and promptly respond to the requests of the surgical team.
- Perform counts of instruments, sponges, and sharp objects before, during, and after the surgery to uphold patient safety.
- Properly manage specimens for laboratory testing.
- Clean, decontaminate, and prepare instruments for sterilization post-procedure.
- Monitor surgical equipment to ensure it is functioning properly.
- Collaborate with circulating nurses and other operating room personnel to deliver coordinated patient care.
- Promote patient safety practices and adhere to hospital policies and regulations.
- Required Qualifications
- Completion of a recognized Surgical Technology program is essential.
- Current certification as a Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) is mandatory.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required; Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification is advantageous.
- In-depth knowledge of sterile techniques, surgical procedures, and instrument management.
- Strong organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail.
- Capacity to remain composed and focused in high-stress, rapid-paced environments.
- Excellent teamwork and communication abilities.
- Previous experience in an operating room is preferred, although new graduates will also be considered.
