The Chemical Manufacturing Manager is essential for directing the day-to-day activities of our chemical production facility. This role encompasses oversight of production methodologies, leadership of Production and Process Engineers, operators, and technicians, as well as the application of stringent safety measures and adherence to environmental regulations. Your ability to enhance operational efficiencies, minimize downtime, manage production expenses, and ensure product quality will significantly contribute to our organizational success. The Manufacturing Manager will guide the Manufacturing Department in achieving goals related to Safety, Environmental impact, Production levels, Quality assurance, and Cost optimization. This position will also involve the development and implementation of initiatives and capital projects aimed at Continuous Improvement within the plant’s operations. Additionally, you will mentor and foster the Manufacturing Department team to achieve operational excellence and capitalize on growth opportunities at the Delaware River site.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee all facets of plant operations, ensuring personal safety, production output, and product quality.
  • Formulate and execute plans to enhance plant performance, boost efficiency, and decrease costs.
  • Guarantee compliance with all applicable regulations, standards, and operational procedures.
  • Inspire and lead a team of manufacturing professionals to meet production and quality goals while fostering a safe working environment.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams to promote continuous improvement efforts and address operational challenges.
  • Facilitate improvement groups, impact events, and production assessments.
  • Collaborate with site leadership to ensure adherence to Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) compliance in connection with capital projects, maintenance tasks, and departmental assignments.
  • Adjust production schedules as necessary to fulfill production goals and customer requirements.
  • Establish and uphold production standards while ensuring adherence to quality control protocols.
  • Assess production staff consistently, promoting a culture focused on safety, efficiency, and continuous advancement.
  • Conduct regular team meetings to outline objectives, share updates, and resolve any challenges.
  • Partner with the Site Technical team to identify process enhancement areas and apply changes that boost efficiency, minimize waste, and drive down costs.
  • Cooperate with Site Maintenance to maintain production reliability and capabilities.
  • Secure compliance of all production activities with industry safety and environmental standards.
  • Perform routine safety audits and inspections, swiftly addressing hazards or compliance issues.
  • Manage resource allocation, including raw materials, machinery, and workforce, to maximize production outputs.
  • Maintain detailed production logs and generate reports reflecting output, efficiency, and quality metrics.
  • Accountable for achieving site objectives and work plans with minimal supervision.
  • Adhere to Quality and Environmental, Health, Safety, and Security initiatives while being aware of ISO 9001 and RC14001 management system standards pertinent to this role.

Key Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering (4-year program).
  • A minimum of 10 years of experience in operations or Process Engineering within a chemical or petrochemical manufacturing context.
  • Proven experience in monitoring, managing, and troubleshooting chemical manufacturing processes.
  • Strong understanding of process safety, environmental legislation, and quality management systems.
  • Exceptional leadership abilities with effective communication skills to motivate and encourage teams.
  • Proficient in data analysis, trend recognition, and the implementation of corrective measures.
  • Skilled in managing teams to align with customer expectations and quality benchmarks.
  • Experience in utilizing Sales and Operations Planning (S&OP) within daily tasks.
  • Excellent customer interaction skills, strategic thinking capability, and strong written and verbal communication skills, along with a solid technical background.
  • Thorough understanding of Continuous Improvement Processes in a manufacturing setting.
  • Familiarity with SAP is preferred.
  • Demonstrates a strong commitment to safety and compliance.
