Job Summary
The Chemist – Grain Quality Analyst position based in Ankeny, IA, offers a competitive hourly wage of $22-24 and is structured as a 3-month contract. The Chemist will be responsible for receiving and identifying samples for analysis, ensuring that labeling is accurate and that the correct analytical tests have been initiated, all while adhering to ISO work instructions.
Responsibilities
- Prioritize sample analyses to align with customer demands and available laboratory capacity.
- Organize and manage projects within a high-throughput laboratory setting.
- Gather and analyze analytical data from various tests.
- Maintain the integrity of all data collected during testing.
- Collaborate effectively within multi-disciplinary teams to deliver timely laboratory results.
- Conduct various tests including total combustion analysis, calorimetry, Gas Chromatography (GC), NIR Spectroscopy, and NMR.
Qualifications
- A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in a scientific or engineering discipline such as Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Biochemistry, Biology, or a related area; relevant experience may substitute for educational requirements.
- 1 to 3 years of relevant laboratory experience.
- Proficient hands-on experience with techniques such as total combustion analysis, elemental analysis, calorimetry, Gas Chromatography (GC), NIR Spectroscopy, NMR, total oil analysis, colorimetry, and other bench-top wet chemical analyses.
- Familiarity with Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS) and the Microsoft Office Suite.
