Job description
Job Summary
The Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) operates under the supervision of licensed occupational therapists, providing essential support in the evaluation and treatment of patients. This role involves assisting in the development and implementation of individualized therapeutic plans aimed at improving patient functionality and overall quality of life.
Responsibilities
- Assist occupational therapists in executing treatment programs and evaluating the effectiveness of interventions.
- Implement group and individual therapy sessions focused on promoting patient independence and skill enhancement.
- Monitor patient progress and report findings to the supervising occupational therapist.
- Educate patients and families on therapy techniques and home exercises to facilitate recovery.
- Maintain accurate documentation of patient care and treatment plans.
Qualifications
- Current certification as an Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) from an accredited program.
- Valid state licensure or eligibility to practice as a COTA.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to interact with patients, families, and team members.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a healthcare team to provide optimal patient care.
- Experience in a clinical setting is preferred but not mandatory.
