Job Summary
The Direct Support Professional (DSP) plays a crucial role in assisting individuals with developmental disabilities or mental health challenges. This position focuses on promoting the well-being and independence of clients by providing personalized support and guidance throughout their daily activities. DSPs help clients achieve their personal goals while fostering a supportive and encouraging environment.
Responsibilities
- Provide individualized care and support to clients in various settings.
- Assist clients with daily living activities, including personal hygiene, meal preparation, and medication administration.
- Encourage client participation in community activities and social events.
- Help clients manage their personal goals and develop life skills.
- Document client progress and maintain accurate records of services provided.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent; further education in human services or related fields is advantageous.
- Experience in a care-giving role or direct support is preferred.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Patience and compassion for individuals with diverse needs.
