Job Summary
The EKG Technician is responsible for performing electrocardiograms to assist healthcare professionals in diagnosing cardiovascular conditions. This role requires a detailed understanding of cardiac health, excellent technical skills, and the ability to closely interact with patients to gather accurate readings. The technician will work within a clinical environment, ensuring that all tests are conducted safely and efficiently.
Responsibilities
- Perform EKG tests and monitor cardiac activity in patients.
- Explain the procedures to patients to alleviate concerns and ensure comfort.
- Prepare and maintain EKG equipment, ensuring proper functionality before and after tests.
- Accurately record and interpret EKG data for physician review.
- Collaborate with healthcare team members to provide comprehensive patient care.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent; completion of an EKG technician training program is preferred.
- Certification from an accredited body, such as Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) or the American Society of Phlebotomy Technicians (ASPT).
- Strong understanding of cardiovascular anatomy and EKG interpretation.
- Excellent communication skills for patient interaction and teamwork.
- Ability to handle sensitive information confidentially and adhere to safety protocols.
