Facilities Engineer Overview: Are you ready to advance your engineering career with one of the leading hospitals in the nation? A top healthcare provider is seeking a Facilities Engineer to become a part of our Infrastructure Engineering team. In this position, you will lend your technical skills in Mechanical, Electrical, and Fire & Life Safety Engineering to assist with renovations, upkeep, and new construction projects within our global portfolio. You will work alongside architects, facility managers, end users, and consultants on initiatives that significantly influence patient care and drive innovation in healthcare.
The Facilities Engineer is instrumental in engineering consultation, troubleshooting, design review, and construction support, ensuring that facilities adhere to the highest standards of safety, efficiency, and reliability.
Facilities Engineer II Responsibilities:
Offer multi-disciplinary engineering consultation for facility repairs, renovations, and new construction projects.
Collaborate effectively with architects, facility managers, owners’ representatives, end users, and third-party consultants.
Provide engineering consultation and troubleshooting for existing systems, along with recommendations for repairs and enhancements.
Execute engineering studies and assessments, and create reports/presentations.
Assist in project budgeting, construction estimates, and evaluations of operational costs.
Develop construction documents for smaller renovation projects.
Review third-party design documents to ensure alignment with company standards.
Supply engineering support during facility acquisitions and in the disposal of buildings/systems.
Contribute to other engineering initiatives and projects as designated.
Facilities Engineer II Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from an ABET-accredited school.
A minimum of 4 years of design and/or operational experience in industrial, commercial, or institutional settings.
Expertise in AutoCAD, Revit, and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Capacity to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, technical drawings, and reports.
Completion of an 8-hour Infection Control Risk Assessment (ICRA) training within 6 months of employment is mandatory.
Facilities Engineer II Preferred Skills / Qualifications:
Ohio Professional Engineer (PE) licensure (or capacity to achieve licensure in Florida).
Certification as a Certified Healthcare Constructor (CHC) through the American Hospital Association.
Minimum of 2 years of experience in healthcare design, operations, or project management.
Understanding of medical gas systems, ASHRAE standards, fire & life safety codes, and relevant healthcare regulations.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to stand or sit for prolonged periods.
Capability to navigate through company facilities and travel to various locations as needed.
Able to lift and carry up to 25 lbs.
Ability to climb ladders and scaffolding for site inspections during construction/renovation.
Personal Protective Equipment (PPE):
Required as necessary when visiting construction sites or designated areas.
