Professional Summary
We are in search of a dedicated and technically proficient Field Service Engineer to oversee the installation, troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance of industrial strip processing machinery utilized in the steel tubing and automotive sectors. This position entails executing equipment installations, initiating operations, conducting preventive maintenance, performing emergency repairs, and providing customer education at various sites across the United States, Canada, Mexico, and occasionally in international locations. The perfect candidate will have exceptional mechanical and electrical problem-solving skills, thrive in an independent working environment, and ensure outstanding customer support within a dynamic field setting.
Field Service Engineer Responsibilities
- Execute the installation, commissioning, and initiation of industrial strip processing equipment at client locations.
- Conduct preventive maintenance, urgent service, troubleshooting, and repair work on industrial machinery.
- Identify and fix issues with electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
- Diagnose electrical components such as PLCs, HMIs, VFDs, motors, relays, contactors, solenoids, field wiring, and input/output systems.
- Interpret electrical schematics, blueprints, technical manuals, and equipment documentation effectively.
- Carry out mechanical repairs, equipment restoration, welding, cutting, and general maintenance tasks as needed.
- Provide training to customers on equipment usage, maintenance practices, and operational best practices.
- Oversee equipment testing, tuning, and adjustments to guarantee optimal functionality.
- Work alongside engineering teams to troubleshoot complex technical problems and enhance equipment performance.
- Maintain professional communication with customers regarding repair activities, maintenance suggestions, and equipment usage.
- Report feedback to management on customer satisfaction, equipment efficiency, and opportunities for product enhancements.
- Complete detailed service reports and documentation following every service call.
- Travel approximately 75% of the time within the United States, with occasional trips to Canada, Mexico, and international customer sites.
Field Service Engineer Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED is mandatory.
- Preferred: Associate degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Applied Sciences, or a similar technical field; relevant hands-on experience will also be considered.
- Experience in servicing industrial manufacturing or production machinery.
- Robust mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic troubleshooting expertise.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical diagrams, blueprints, and technical manuals.
- Experience with troubleshooting PLC-controlled machinery and HMI interfaces.
- Familiarity with multimeters and various electrical testing instruments.
- Welding, fabrication, and machinery rebuilding experience preferred.
- Strong proficiency in computer applications, including Microsoft Office 365.
- Capability to work autonomously in challenging industrial environments.
- Possession of a valid U.S. Passport with no travel limitations and a valid driver’s license with a clean record.
