Job Summary
The Fish Biologist role is positioned within the Department of the Interior, specifically in the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, Region 3, located in Ashland, Wisconsin. The incumbent will engage in various scientific practices related to the assessment and management of fish populations and their habitats.
Responsibilities
- Conduct research and monitoring of fish populations.
- Analyze data and prepare reports to support conservation efforts.
- Collaborate with teams to develop management plans for aquatic ecosystems.
- Implement strategies for the protection and enhancement of fish habitats.
- Provide expertise to other agencies and stakeholders regarding fish biology.
Qualifications
- A degree in biology, ichthyology, or a related field is required.
- Relevant coursework in fish biology and aquatic ecosystems.
- Combination of formal education and practical experience is acceptable.
- Ability to communicate effectively and work both independently and as part of a team.
- Knowledge of federal policies regarding wildlife conservation is advantageous.
