Job Summary
The Hemodialysis Registered Nurse (RN) plays a crucial role in providing quality care to patients undergoing hemodialysis treatments. This position involves working closely with patients to ensure their comfort and safety while performing necessary medical procedures. The Hemodialysis RN is responsible for assessing patients, managing their treatment plans, and collaborating with healthcare teams to optimize patient outcomes.
Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough assessments of patients prior to and during hemodialysis sessions.
- Administer dialysis treatments according to established protocols and physician orders.
- Monitor patients’ vital signs and response to treatment, making adjustments as necessary.
- Educate patients and their families about dialysis processes and self-care practices.
- Document treatment procedures and patient progress accurately in medical records.
- Work collaboratively with nephrologists and other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive care.
- Respond to emergencies and complications promptly and effectively.
Qualifications
- Current and valid Registered Nurse license in the state of practice.
- Experience in hemodialysis or critical care nursing is highly preferred.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills for patient interaction.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
- Completion of relevant certification in dialysis preferred.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required; Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification is a plus.
