Histology Technician
Weston, Florida
$40-44/hr
Shift: 2a-10:30a (Tuesday – Saturday)
The Histology Technician is essential to the delivery of patient care by preparing, sectioning, and staining tissue samples, which supports pathologists in making precise diagnoses.
Responsibilities of the Histology Technician:

Specimen Handling: Process, log, and prepare tissue samples for both routine and specialized analyses.

Embedding & Sectioning: Accurately embed processed tissues and execute microtomy, ensuring sections are cut to the right micron thickness without imperfections.

Staining & Coverslipping: Carry out standard Hematoxylin and Eosin (H&E) staining, intricate special stains, and immunohistochemistry (IHC) procedures.

Quality Assurance: Keep thorough records, conduct regular maintenance on equipment (such as microtomes and tissue processors), and resolve any technical problems to guarantee high-quality slides.

Safety & Compliance: Ensure adherence to chemical safety practices, biohazard protocols, and institutional quality assurance standards.
Qualifications for the Histology Technician:

Education: An Associate degree in Medical Laboratory Technology or a related field is required, with a Bachelor’s degree preferred for HTL certification eligibility.

Certification: Must hold an active HT (ASCP) or HTL (ASCP) certification.

Experience: A minimum of 1 year of laboratory experience in a high-volume pathology setting or acute care hospital is preferred, although strong new graduates with clinical backgrounds are welcome to apply.
