Job Summary
The ICU Registered Nurse (RN) plays a vital role in delivering exceptional care to patients in the intensive care unit. This position involves monitoring critically ill patients, administering medications, and collaborating closely with interdisciplinary teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes. The ICU RN must possess advanced clinical skills to provide high-quality care in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities
- Assess and monitor patients’ vital signs and medical conditions continuously.
- Administer medication and treatments as prescribed by physicians.
- Collaborate with medical staff to develop and implement individualized patient care plans.
- Maintain accurate and comprehensive patient records, documenting all care and observations.
- Provide education and support to patients and their families regarding medical conditions and recovery processes.
- Participate in interdisciplinary rounds and contribute to care discussions.
- Ensure adherence to infection control protocols and maintain a safe patient environment.
Qualifications
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice.
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
- Previous experience in an ICU or critical care setting is highly desirable.
- Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills.
- Ability to work in a high-pressure environment and manage complex patient care situations.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification required.
