Job Overview for Imaging Engineer II
As an Imaging Engineer II, you will take charge of the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and calibration of various diagnostic imaging devices to ensure they operate reliably and comply with regulatory standards. This position requires close collaboration with clinical personnel to reduce equipment downtime, enhance system functionality, and ensure superior patient care. You’ll also be responsible for keeping precise service records, managing equipment inventory, and offering technical support and instruction to other team members and vendors. Success in this role demands comprehensive technical knowledge, adept problem-solving abilities, and the aptitude to work independently in a dynamic healthcare setting.
Key Responsibilities of Imaging Engineer II
- Install, troubleshoot, repair, maintain, and calibrate medical imaging devices, such as radiographic systems, C-arms, ultrasound machines, and mammography units.
- Conduct preventive maintenance and system diagnostics to enhance equipment reliability and lower downtime.
- Assess radiation output, monitor equipment functionality, and ensure compliance with regulations through thorough testing and calibration.
- Analyze error codes and perform hardware repairs, which may include replacing power supplies, hard drives, and other critical components.
- Maintain precise service documentation and equipment databases.
- Work closely with healthcare providers to address any equipment-related issues that may affect patient care and operational efficiency.
- Offer technical support, advice, and training to colleagues, vendors, and less experienced technicians as necessary.
- Oversee the inventory of service parts, tools, and supplies to guarantee prompt equipment repairs.
- Adhere to safety, quality, and regulatory protocols during all service and maintenance tasks.
- Travel to customer or facility locations as needed to implement installations and repairs.
Qualifications for Imaging Engineer II
- At least three (3) years of experience in the repair, maintenance, troubleshooting, and installation of medical imaging devices.
- Experience servicing imaging systems including radiographic rooms, C-arms, ultrasound, mammography, or other similar diagnostic technologies.
- Strong technical skills in computers and troubleshooting, including the ability to interpret error codes and execute hardware repairs.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.
- Knowledgeable in networking applications and diagnostic software.
- An Associate’s degree in Electronics, Biomedical Technology, or a related technical area, or relevant experience, training, or certifications in biomedical fields.
- A valid driver’s license and a willingness to travel as necessary.
- Capability to lift up to 50 pounds and meet the physical requirements associated with equipment installation and repair.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, communication, and customer service skills.
- Ability to work autonomously while effectively collaborating with clinical staff, vendors, and internal teams.
