Interventional Radiology Technician
Mount Vernon, Ohio

Position Overview
The Interventional Radiology Technician works alongside physicians in executing minimally invasive, image-guided interventions to diagnose and treat various conditions in the realm of Interventional Radiology. This role is crucial in providing patient care throughout the entire procedural process—before, during, and after—while ensuring a focus on safety, precision, and high-quality imaging in a dynamic environment like the Cath Lab or Interventional Radiology suite.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist physicians with interventional procedures such as angiograms, angioplasties, stent placements, biopsies, drain placements, and vascular interventions.
  • Maintain and prepare sterile environments, instruments, supplies, and imaging technologies.
  • Participate in scrubbing, circulating, and the setup and breakdown of procedures.
  • Position patients and imaging equipment (C-arm) for the best possible imaging outcomes.
  • Regularly monitor patient parameters, including vital signs, ECG, oxygen levels, and hemodynamic status.
  • Conduct patient preparations which include evaluating medical history, lab results, allergies, medications, and verifying consent.
  • Establish and maintain IV access, and administer oxygen as prescribed.
  • Assist in monitoring sedation and administering medications under the physician’s guidance.
  • Manage vascular access sites and ensure hemostasis following procedures.
  • Execute radiographic imaging and fluoroscopy when ARRT certified.
  • Maintain thorough documentation of procedures, patient information, and imaging records.
  • Collaborate effectively with physicians, nursing staff, and other healthcare personnel to facilitate a safe and effective workflow.
  • Educate patients on procedures and post-procedure care.
  • Adhere to infection control protocols, radiation safety guidelines, and hospital regulations.

Qualifications

  • Completion of an accredited Radiologic Technology program.
  • Current state licensure as a Radiographer.
  • ARRT certification is mandatory.
  • BLS certification is required (AHA).
  • ACLS certification is preferred or is to be obtained within a specified timeframe post-hire.
  • Advanced ARRT certification in Cardiovascular (CV), Cardiac Interventional (CI), or Vascular Interventional (VI) is preferred.
  • Solid knowledge of anatomy, physiology, sterile techniques, and radiation safety practices.
  • Capability to thrive in a fast-paced procedural setting.
  • Excellent communication, critical thinking, and teamwork abilities.
  • RCIS certification is preferred for roles focused on Cath Lab.
