Lab Technician Overview:
The Lab Technician will collaborate closely with engineering teams in areas such as product testing, commissioning, and troubleshooting during the development process. This role will involve providing technical solutions to resolve product-related challenges and completing designated tasks with support from fellow team members and engineers. Additionally, the technician will perform necessary tests and calibrations using specified equipment, ensuring that all tools and machinery adhere to relevant standards.
Lab Technician Responsibilities:
- Assist engineering in all stages of product development by engaging in assembly, testing, design, failure analysis, cost reduction initiatives, and enhancements.
- Collaborate with engineers during testing, commissioning, and troubleshooting; deliver technical solutions for product issues; complete tasks with assistance from team members and engineering staff; conduct necessary tests and calibrations, and maintain equipment in compliance with standards.
- May need to engage in various physical tasks occasionally, such as lifting/carrying, pushing/pulling, standing, climbing, squatting, bending, kneeling, and driving long distances.
- Potentially undertake diverse lab duties, contribute to team projects, investigate new processes or concepts, manage deadlines, and work varying overtime hours.
- Operate within a framework where safety and quality are top priorities for all staff members.
- Foster a culture of respect, maintain a clean and safe workplace, and adhere to safety program guidelines.
- Personal protective equipment such as safety shoes, glasses, hearing protection, and electrical safety gear may be necessary based on job specifics.
Qualifications:
- Completion of high school diploma or GED is essential.
- A minimum of 3 years of experience in the automotive, electrical, mechanical, testing, machining, or engineering sectors is required (Co-op/intern experience is acceptable).
Preferred Qualifications:
- Desirable experience includes testing, operating, troubleshooting, evaluating, or servicing automotive, electrical, mechanical, testing, research and development environments, test equipment, electrical components, and engineering applications.
- Experience in performing quality measurements, using test instruments, handling electrical components, diagnosing issues, and conducting analysis is also highly preferred.
