Job Summary
The Labor and Delivery Nurse (RN) plays a crucial role in providing exceptional care to expectant mothers throughout the stages of labor and childbirth. This position requires a proficient understanding of prenatal and postnatal practices, allowing the nurse to support both the mother and newborn effectively during one of life’s most significant moments.
Responsibilities
- Monitor and assess the physical and emotional status of mothers and infants throughout the labor process.
- Provide support and education to patients and families regarding childbirth processes and infant care.
- Collaborate with healthcare team members to create a safe and supportive birthing environment.
- Perform assessments, initiate interventions, and develop care plans tailored to each patient’s needs.
- Ensure adherence to hospital policies and standards while maintaining patient privacy and confidentiality.
- Assist in emergencies and respond promptly to changing clinical situations.
Qualifications
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) licensure in the state of practice.
- Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS).
- Experience in maternal-child health or labor and delivery preferred.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills are essential.
- Ability to work effectively in high-pressure situations.
