Job Summary
The Laboratory Processing Assistant plays a vital role in the preparatory phase of laboratory specimen analysis. This position involves managing specimen processing, handling laboratory tools, and inputting test requests into the computer database. Ensuring the precise identification of patients while addressing any pre-analytic challenges is crucial, along with providing support to the laboratory staff.
Responsibilities
- Conduct pre-analytic processing of specimens.
- Operate and maintain laboratory equipment safely and effectively.
- Enter and manage test orders in the laboratory information system.
- Ensure patient identification accuracy during specimen handling.
- Address any pre-analytic issues that arise.
- Support lab team operations and collaborate effectively with colleagues.
Qualifications
- An Associate’s degree in a relevant field or a High School diploma accompanied by a minimum of 2 years of applicable work experience.
- Excellent organizational abilities.
- Capability to thrive in a high-pressure work setting.
