Job Summary
The Laboratory Technician position is a practical, detail-oriented role dedicated to supporting daily applied research across various environments including laboratory settings, clinical and consumer research, and pilot plants. This role involves executing essential experimental tasks such as assembling samples and prototypes, conducting standard laboratory procedures, implementing minor technical modifications, and meticulously documenting both technical and consumer-related data.
Responsibilities
- Prepare samples and prototypes for various types of testing including technical, analytical, and consumer evaluations.
- Carry out standard laboratory tests and procedural tasks in line with established standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Implement both technical and sensory evaluations by organizing qualitative and quantitative studies at different scales.
- Generate, review, and accurately document technical and consumer data points with a high level of detail.
- Update specifications based on standard data and effectuate changes to straightforward technical solutions.
- Submit products for analytical evaluation and promptly communicate any unexpected results to the supervisor and relevant product teams.
- Assist the product team in refining and prioritizing tasks within the product backlog.
- Conduct market and customer research, summarizing findings in a structured manner.
- Ensure timely delivery of work to a satisfactory quality, alerting supervisors to potential issues affecting outcomes.
Qualifications
- Passion for hands-on experimentation and understanding of basic science and procedural methodologies.
- Previous experience in research and development, specifically in product testing and result documentation.
- Familiarity with executing technical or sensory assessments within relevant industries; experience in consumer packaged goods or pharmaceuticals is advantageous.
- Fundamental knowledge of qualitative and quantitative tests conducted according to SOPs.
- Strong focus on technical precision when generating and assessing technical and consumer data.
- High proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel, along with web browsers like Microsoft Edge or Google Chrome.
- Willingness to learn and utilize company-specific systems; familiarity with systems such as Veeva, Nexus, MyLearning, SMART, Desktop Reporter, or GAIMS is beneficial.
- Excellent analytical writing and communication skills, capable of clearly reporting unexpected findings.
- Proven track record of completing tasks efficiently, meeting deadlines, and maintaining quality standards.
