Laboratory Technician
Johnston, IA
$19-22/hr
7-Month Contract
The **Laboratory Technician** will support technical staff by participating in standard laboratory operations and routine tasks related to data handling, aiding scientific research initiatives.
Laboratory Technician Duties:
- Engaging in activities within laboratory, greenhouse, and field environments.
- Conducting plant sampling, performing DNA extractions, executing high-throughput PCR, and managing laboratory inventory of samples.
- Completing tasks in line with established procedures and training provided by the team.
Laboratory Technician Qualifications:
- A Bachelor’s degree in a scientific discipline (Chemistry, Biology, or similar) is highly preferred. Candidates pursuing a BS in Science with relevant laboratory experience may also be considered.
- Experience with laboratory methodologies, including DNA extraction and PCR techniques.
- Proficiency in basic computer applications, particularly Microsoft Excel, is necessary.
- A minimum of 1 year of relevant experience in a research lab setting is required.
