The role of the Logistics Analyst is essential for supporting the business by ensuring that Import and Export Operations comply with customs regulations and standards, delivering accuracy and efficiency to satisfy customer and production needs. The importation of materials is crucial for production facilities, while exports facilitate foreign manufacturing and sales to final customers.
Key Responsibilities of the Logistics Analyst:
- Oversee the coordination and daily operations related to the import/export of both seed and non-seed (chemical, specialized, research) products entering and leaving the US.
- Execute Import/Export functions independently, adhering to governmental regulations as well as internal policies, objectives, and standards.
- Streamline the import/export process by collaborating with regional Import/Export coordinators, Warehousing/Distribution teams, and Plant & Production planning departments.
- Facilitate logistics for import/export shipments via ocean, air, land, and rail, working closely with freight forwarders, brokers, and Transportation Contract managers, in addition to internal stakeholders.
- Ensure all tasks are completed promptly and in compliance with internal guidelines and government regulations.
- Verify that all documentation meets accuracy and compliance standards for both US and international clients.
- Conduct audits of team members’ files to guarantee they are kept in an audit-ready condition.
- Prepare for involvement in both internal and external audits (e.g., USCBP/EPA).
- Manage the precise, timely, and compliant processing of all orders for designated countries and product categories.
- Stay informed about relevant import/export regulations through ongoing training and self-initiated learning.
- Create, uphold, and educate team members and stakeholders on Standard Operating Procedures related to the assigned product portfolio.
- Collaborate across divisions and worldwide to discover and apply best practices, fostering a culture of ongoing improvement.
- Act as the primary contact for international partners and customers.
- Provide training for import/export operational processes as needed.
- Manage complex global trade accounts and trade lanes effectively.
Logistics Analyst Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree required.
- Preferred 3 years of experience in Business, Supply Chain, International Commerce, or related disciplines.
- Familiarity with laws, regulations, and standards concerning APHIS, Customs and Border Protection, USDA, and other governmental agencies is essential.
- Proficiency with data handling tools (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite, ACE, SAP, GTS, Amber Road, OneSource) is favorable.
- Strong organizational skills with an ability to meet deadlines, coupled with excellent analytical abilities.
- Background in Import/Export, Trade & Compliance, or Shipping/Logistics is advantageous.
- Experience with agricultural and/or chemical products is preferred.
