Maintenance Technician
Location: Solon, OH
Compensation: $20-30/HR
Shift: 1st Shift

The Maintenance Technician will play a crucial role in the maintenance, repair, and adjustment of industrial machinery to facilitate smooth production operations. This position will also require effective communication with management regarding any issues that may arise while contributing to the development of maintenance strategies.

Responsibilities of the Maintenance Technician:

  • Execute preventative maintenance, diagnose issues, and apply scheduled maintenance protocols.
  • Perform electrical installations and maintenance for systems operating at 120V and 480V across the facility.
  • Conduct plumbing installations and maintenance utilizing industrial-grade stainless steel and PVC piping.
  • Install, upkeep, and repair various machinery and equipment including, but not limited to, progressive cavity pumps (Moyno), diaphragm pumps, rotor and feeder systems, mixers, conveyors, filler machines (approximately 25 years old), and lifters (around 35-40 years old).
  • Oversee maintenance and repair tasks for boilers.
  • Keep track of the inventory for maintenance supplies including piping, hardware, pumps, and other essential components.
  • Investigate issues with package and production systems; provide backup support during product changeovers and assist in training staff on correct procedures.
  • Support general shipping, receiving, and warehouse functions as required.
  • Service and calibrate both automated and manual valves.
  • Adhere to lockout/tagout safety practices.
  • Read and comprehend blueprints and schematics.

Requirements for the Maintenance Technician:

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent is mandatory.
  • Proven experience in industrial maintenance.
  • Familiarity with industrial electrical systems (both single and three-phase) and plumbing practices.
  • Experience in boiler operations and HVAC systems.
  • Knowledge in the programming and upkeep of industrial instrumentation.
  • Welding skills are highly desirable.
  • Competence in hydraulics and pneumatics.
  • Experience with rigging and millwright practices.
  • Basic carpentry skills are beneficial.
  • Proficient computer skills for automation management and data entry tasks.
  • Familiarity with pumps (especially progressive cavity and diaphragm types) is advantageous, training available for transferable experience.
  • Ability to troubleshoot, clean, and replace conveyor rollers.
  • Capability to assist with packaging line transitions and to educate teammates.
  • Experience operating tow motors or forklifts is a plus.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to lift, carry, and maneuver items weighing between 50-75 lbs.
  • Good fine motor skills for handling small tools and components.
  • Strong balance for working at heights or in proximity to moving machinery.
  • Willingness and ability to climb ladders and access platforms.
  • Capability to perform tasks at various heights: overhead, waist level, and ground level.
  • Flexibility to crouch, kneel, bend, or squat while engaged with equipment.
  • Adequate stamina to stand and work on feet for the majority of the shift.
  • Ability to operate, test, and run machinery to ensure completion of maintenance duties.
  • Comfort working in diverse environments, including those that may be hot, cold, noisy, dusty, or have strong odors.
  • Ability to use hearing, vision, touch, and smell to assess the performance of machinery and equipment.
