Manufacturing Engineer
Houston, TX
$40/HR The Manufacturing Engineer partners closely with plant operations to improve and maximize productivity across assembly and machining departments. This role also supports new product launches, ensuring smooth transitions from design into full-scale manufacturing. The position reports directly to the Plant Manager and plays a key role in continuous improvement, cost reduction, safety, and process optimization throughout the facility. Manufacturing Engineer Responsibilities

  • Propose, coordinate, and implement projects related to safety, quality, cost reduction, continuous improvement, and new product development
  • Own and manage the site cost-out improvement process and reporting
  • Identify and prioritize opportunities to improve manufacturing productivity across the facility
  • Train, coach, and guide project owners in the use of Lean and statistical tools to establish effective process management and measurement systems
  • Evaluate and recommend solutions to manufacturing challenges, considering economic return and facility layout compatibility
  • Investigate and resolve production issues and conduct manufacturing methods studies to determine optimal processes
  • Support manufacturing processes involving sheet metal (stamping, bending, welding, powder coating), machining, and electrical assembly
  • Collaborate with design engineering teams to ensure new product designs are optimized for manufacturability and cost efficiency
  • Research new equipment and technologies, recommend facility or material flow improvements, and prepare capital appropriation requests as needed
  • Develop operational procedures, manufacturing routings, and production standards
  • Implement cost-reduction initiatives using Lean manufacturing principles such as Kaizen, 5S, and Six Sigma methodologies
  • Partner with Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) teams to ensure machine guarding and electrical safety standards are met and to promote a strong safety culture
  • Champion designated MESH (Management Environmental Safety & Health) categories and ensure compliance actions are completed
  • Lead and administer the Management of Change process for new products and process launches
  • Own capital appropriation requests related to facility and equipment investments
  • Work cross-functionally to drive alignment and achieve operational goals

Manufacturing Engineer Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering from an accredited institution
  • Minimum of 3 years of manufacturing experience supporting operations or production environments
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in Continuous Improvement and Six Sigma methodologies
  • Legal authorization to work in the United States without employer sponsorship

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial, Manufacturing, or Mechanical Engineering (other engineering degrees considered with relevant experience)
  • Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification
  • Hands-on experience in assembly, CNC/manual machining, sheet metal fabrication, or maintenance environments
