Mechanical Engineer
Coldwater, MI
$100,000 – $115,000

As a **Mechanical Project Engineer**, you will leverage your project management expertise to strategically plan and execute essential capital initiatives, promote technological advancements, and deliver engineering solutions focused on enhancing productivity and operational efficiency within the business unit.

  • Your responsibilities will include 60% project engineering and project management, 20% plant support, and 20% mechanical systems design.
  • In this role, you will clearly communicate project objectives to team members, contractors, and stakeholders while fostering strong collaborations with plant personnel throughout the execution of capital projects.
  • You will also provide support as a Mechanical Project Engineer to various regional locations, with travel up to 30% required for this position.
  • Regional support may extend to our facility in Chicago Heights as well as our site in Mississauga, Ontario. The ability to travel internationally is considered an asset.

Qualifications:

  • A degree in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering or a related engineering discipline is essential.
  • A minimum of 2 years of relevant industrial experience, encompassing the planning, specification, and execution of engineering design projects, beyond educational projects.
  • This position demands robust technical abilities and process management expertise, along with the capability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Experience in heavy industry or manufacturing is highly preferred.
  • Exceptional decision-making and problem-solving skills are crucial, with a capacity to address issues using practical judgment and a realistic appreciation of the challenges at hand.
  • Six Sigma or PMP certification is advantageous.
  • Familiarity with software such as Inventor and AutoCAD is preferred.
  • A solid understanding of structural design, federal regulations, and industry standards, such as OSHA, ANSI, and NFPA, is necessary.
  • Knowledge of aluminum processing would be an added benefit.
