**Mechanical Engineer – Alternator**
Montgomery, Alabama
**Salary: $85,000 to $95,000**

The Mechanical Engineer will play a key role in supporting the manufacturing and product development of rotating electrical machinery, with a focus on electrical generators/alternators and their related voltage regulators. Responsibilities will span design, testing, troubleshooting, and ensuring that airborne electromechanical systems are ready for production. Candidates should have a robust background in mechanical design and a solid understanding of electrical and electromagnetic concepts. To excel in this role, attributes such as creativity, professionalism, self-motivation, teamwork, and strong communication skills with clients, suppliers, and various teams are essential.

**Key Responsibilities:**
– Offer technical assistance to manufacturing processes and address any product-related challenges.
– Oversee product life-cycle management, including service evaluations and design modifications.
– Design, develop, and initiate new electromechanical products in alignment with customer standards and regulatory guidelines.
– Aid in FAA certification processes, including DO-160 compliance testing.

– Develop an in-depth understanding of the alternator product line.
– Master the principles of alternator design and operational theory.
– Gain insight into installation environments and service applications.
– Become proficient with engineering SOPs to authorize engineering modifications.

– Create 3D models and assembly drawings for components such as castings, machined parts, stampings, and injection molded items.
– Conduct FEA analysis (thermal, stress, modal).
– Assemble prototypes for laboratory and flight evaluations.
– Troubleshoot electromechanical systems down to the component level.
– Review and manage non-conforming materials.
– Produce technical documentation including test plans, reports, analyses, and service updates.
– Operate lab testing equipment and specify requirements for testing and production support.
– Collaborate with clients to resolve in-field issues.

**Qualifications:**
– Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering is required (Electrical or Aerospace degrees may also be considered).
– At least 3 years of relevant experience.
– Proficient in 3D CAD modeling with exposure to FEA software tools.
– Competence in writing technical reports.
– Experience with troubleshooting mechanical and electromechanical systems.
– Familiarity with MS Office and engineering graphics applications.
– Effective verbal and written communication abilities.

**Preferred Skills:**
– Experience with FEA (static stress, modal analysis).
– Knowledge of data acquisition and control systems.
– Background in aviation products and familiarity with FAA regulations.
– Understanding of vehicle electrical system components.
