Tuesday – Saturday
$22 – $24.52 /hour + $0.65/hour 2nd Shift Differential
The **Microbiology Lab Technician** plays a vital role in the smooth operation of the laboratory by preparing media, ensuring equipment functionality, and conducting standard microbiological procedures with a strong commitment to aseptic methods. Candidates should possess excellent organizational skills, adaptability, and the ability to communicate effectively in order to juggle multiple tasks. This position is crucial for maintaining a clean, adequately stocked, and compliant laboratory space while ensuring the reliability and accuracy of testing outcomes.
Microbiology Lab Technician Responsibilities:
- Adhere to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to meet regulatory compliance within an FDA-controlled environment.
- Prepare and sterilize microbiological media, reagents, and solutions as needed.
- Conduct lab tasks using appropriate aseptic techniques to avoid contamination.
- Track, document, and oversee equipment functionality through the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS).
- Sanitize, sterilize, and organize lab glassware, tools, and workspace to foster a safe and productive environment.
- Replenish and oversee the inventory of laboratory supplies.
- Assist with various laboratory tasks as directed.
- Communicate with team members and supervisors effectively to ensure timely completion of duties.
- Utilize Microsoft Office applications for documentation, data entry, and generating reports.
- Employ foundational knowledge in biology or laboratory practices to aid in routine testing and research functions.
- Collaborate in a team environment while also being capable of working independently.
Microbiology Lab Technician Requirements:
- An Associate’s degree or Bachelor’s in a scientific discipline, with a preference for Biology.
- Basic computer proficiency (Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.).
- Ability to walk for prolonged periods.
- Capable of lifting items weighing up to 30 pounds.
- Comfortable in a dynamic and fast-paced work environment.
- Meticulous attention to detail and a readiness to follow established procedures.
- Available to work the 2nd shift from 3 PM to 11 PM.
