Job Summary
The Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) Registered Nurse (RN) provides specialized care for premature and critically ill newborns. This role is essential in monitoring the health status of these infants and delivering advanced medical interventions as necessary. The NICU RN collaborates closely with a multidisciplinary team to ensure optimal outcomes for neonates in their care.
Responsibilities
- Deliver comprehensive nursing care to neonates in the NICU.
- Monitor vital signs and assess the ongoing health of infants.
- Administer medications and treatments in line with specific protocols.
- Collaborate with healthcare providers to manage care plans.
- Educate parents on infant care and offer emotional support.
- Document patient progress and communicate effectively with the healthcare team.
Qualifications
- Registered Nurse (RN) license valid in the state of practice.
- Certification in Neonatal Resuscitation (NRP) is required.
- Previous NICU experience preferred but not mandatory.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Able to work in a high-stress environment and make critical decisions.
