OEM Contracts Specialist
Hybrid – Greater Cleveland Area, OH

The role of the OEM Contracts Specialist involves managing contracts of moderate scope and complexity to ensure all contractual obligations are met. This individual will be responsible for identifying requirements, contributing to proposal development, negotiating pricing and terms, overseeing contract performance, and ensuring adherence to contract specifications. Acting as the primary contact for significant government and military initiatives is a key aspect of this position.

OEM Contracts Specialist Responsibilities:

  • Identify and define customer contractual requirements for new products, systems, and specialized projects.
  • Manage order processes, develop Demand Plans aligned with Sales and Operating Plans, and facilitate customer communication, including PO/Contract examination and assessment.
  • Examine performance requirements alongside customer purchase order specifications.
  • Create technically and commercially sound proposal packages for major clients that meet customer and contract specifications.
  • Assess performance criteria, delivery timelines, and cost estimates related to materials, equipment, and labor hours.
  • Initiate the bidding process by clarifying requirements and coordinating inputs from multiple departments.
  • Draft and submit complex Requests for Proposals (RFPs).
  • Engage in negotiations for intricate contract stipulations.
  • Investigate and resolve claims or complaints by gathering and analyzing necessary information.
  • Collaborate with relevant departments to address technical and quality concerns, data needs, and any applicable business matters.
  • Monitor compliance with contract requirements, evaluating performance, and identifying any need for amendments or extensions, while recognizing when customer-directed adjustments exceed contract scope.
  • Serve as the main contact for customers regarding assigned contracts and participate in customer presentations.
  • Possess knowledge of legal and regulatory standards related to contract administration and government contracting, if relevant.
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of corporate and divisional policies and administrative procedures.
  • Willingness to travel up to 10% or less as needed.

OEM Contracts Specialist Qualifications:

  • 2-4 years of relevant experience.
  • Proficient in effective negotiation techniques.
  • Experience with U.S. government/DoD contracts is essential.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or a related field.
  • Contract management certification is favored.
  • Completion of Export Compliance Training Institute (ECTI) preferred.
  • Familiarity with the aerospace sector is preferred.
  • Experience in preparing certified price and cost proposals is advantageous.
