Job Summary
The Oncology Registered Nurse (RN) plays a vital role in providing specialized care to patients diagnosed with cancer. This position involves comprehensive patient assessment, educating patients and families about treatment plans, and administering chemotherapy and other therapies. The Oncology RN collaborates with a multi-disciplinary team to deliver high-quality, compassionate care to patients throughout their cancer journey.
Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough assessments of patients’ physical and emotional health status.
- Administer chemotherapy and manage related interventions according to established protocols.
- Provide education about cancer, treatment modalities, side effects, and coping strategies to patients and their families.
- Monitor and document patient progress and response to treatment, adjusting care plans as necessary.
- Collaborate and communicate effectively with physicians and healthcare teams to coordinate patient care.
- Participate in patient support groups and community outreach efforts related to oncology care.
Qualifications
- Valid RN license in the state where practicing.
- Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (BSN) is preferred.
- Experience in oncology nursing is highly desirable.
- Certification in chemotherapy or related oncology credentials is a plus.
- Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
