Job Summary
The OR/Surgical Nurse (RN) is a critical role within the operating room, tasked with providing comprehensive care for patients undergoing surgical procedures. This position demands a high level of clinical expertise, quick decision-making abilities, and a compassionate approach to enhance the overall patient experience during surgery.
Responsibilities
- Assist with surgical procedures by preparing the operating room and ensuring all necessary instruments and equipment are sterile and ready.
- Monitor patients’ vital signs and manage their anesthesia needs under the guidance of the anesthetist.
- Collaborate with surgeons and other healthcare professionals to ensure patient safety and the successful execution of surgical techniques.
- Provide post-operative care, ensuring patients are stable and comfortable during recovery.
- Maintain clear and accurate documentation of patient care throughout the surgical process.
Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice.
- Minimum of two years of experience in a surgical or operating room environment preferred.
- Strong knowledge of surgical procedures, sterile techniques, and patient assessment.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively in high-pressure situations.
- Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) is required.
