Specialty Operations Pharmacy Technician 2
Remote – Contract
$23.50/HR
Schedule: 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM EST OR 12:30 PM – 8:00 PM EST The Specialty Operations Pharmacy Technician 2 supports specialty pharmacy operations by ensuring accurate prescription processing, effective communication with patients and providers, and adherence to specialty-specific operational programs designed to optimize health outcomes. This role operates with minimal supervision, exercises independent judgment within defined parameters, and contributes to high-quality patient care through detailed and compliant workflow execution. Specialty Operations Pharmacy Technician 2 Responsibilities:

  • Contact physicians and provider offices to clarify prescription orders, obtain missing information, and resolve discrepancies
  • Enter prescription orders accurately into the pharmacy system in accordance with regulatory and company guidelines
  • Handle inbound phone calls from patients and healthcare providers, addressing questions, providing updates, and escalating issues as appropriate
  • Support pharmacists in coordinating specialty medication services and ensuring compliance with specialty drug protocols
  • Promote patient adherence by supporting specialty-specific programs and operational processes designed to improve clinical outcomes
  • Communicate effectively with patients and providers regarding medication status, prior authorizations, refill coordination, and related services
  • Interpret departmental policies and standard operating procedures to complete assignments accurately and efficiently
  • Prioritize workload independently while maintaining defined quality standards and turnaround expectations
  • Identify and escalate workflow issues, compliance concerns, or patient care gaps as needed
  • Maintain strict confidentiality and compliance with all HIPAA and regulatory requirements

Specialty Operations Pharmacy Technician 2 Requirements:

  • Must be licensed as a pharmacy technician in their state of residence
  • Must be eligible to work with Medicare/Medicaid
  • National Certification
