Product Engineer
Location: Solon, OH

As a Product Engineer, you will play a vital role in sustaining engineering efforts. Your focus will be on leading projects that enhance yield through design optimization, addressing component obsolescence, exploring alternative components for new product development, and providing support for Design-to-Order proposals along with related custom engineering tasks once approved.

Key Responsibilities of the Product Engineer

  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement using Lean methodologies.

  • Articulate the quality policy and objectives, clarify your role in quality assurance, and understand the implications of not meeting quality and customer expectations.
  • Design and execute changes in product design and manufacturing to reduce costs and enhance performance.
  • Revise legacy products to improve yields through redesign and selected component specifications.
  • Address performance challenges stemming from design or component issues.
  • Collaborate with Test Engineering to train operators and technicians on product specifics.
  • Update project documentation, including schematic diagrams, mechanical schematics, and material listings.
  • Craft circuits, systems, or structures as directed by the sustaining design project manager.
  • Conduct calibration, data gathering, and environmental testing on prototypes.
  • Provide ongoing technical support for manufacturing processes.
  • Assist purchasing with vendor or component selection technical support.
  • Undertake additional responsibilities as assigned by management.

Qualifications for the Product Engineer

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience with a proven technical understanding of circuits and the mechanical aspects of resistive products or instrumentation design.
  • Expertise in RF circuit design, troubleshooting, and analysis to enhance product quality and functionality.
  • Knowledge of electronic manufacturing processes, notably Surface Mount Technology (SMT) and assembly testing.
  • Strong diagnostic skills and effective hands-on capabilities.
  • Robust analytical and problem-solving expertise.
  • Familiarity with current simulation tools for circuit and field analysis.
  • Experience with Python for data analysis or automating tests is desirable.
  • Experience with AutoCAD or other CAD software is a plus.
