Referral Coordination Specialist – 100% Remote
**Pay Rate: $24/hr**
The role of **Referral Coordination Specialist** is essential in managing the high-volume operations associated with infusion referrals and intake processes. This position is primarily responsible for the orchestration of referrals, examining documentation, carrying out benefits verification and prior authorizations, and ensuring effective communication with providers, patients, and internal teams to facilitate prompt access to infusion therapy.
Key Responsibilities of the Referral Coordination Specialist
- Oversee the lifecycle of infusion referrals and intake processes from the moment of receipt through to treatment coordination.
- Assess referrals for completeness and identify any missing or necessary documentation.
- Collaborate with referring providers, patients, and internal teams to gather outstanding information and address any obstacles in the referral process.
- Conduct benefits verification and support the prior authorization process for infusion treatments.
- Follow up on outstanding documentation, authorizations, and referral prerequisites.
- Handle a high volume of referrals, ensuring precision and adherence to turnaround time expectations.
- Prioritize conflicting referrals and cases based on urgency and operational needs.
- Keep accurate and timely records throughout the referral and intake process.
- Proactively communicate with providers, patients, and internal teams regarding the status and any delays related to referrals.
- Work autonomously in a fully remote setting while maintaining productivity and accountability.
- Facilitate patient-centered referral coordination to promote prompt access to infusion therapies.
Qualifications for the Referral Coordination Specialist
- Must possess an associate degree or higher; a focus on healthcare-related fields is preferred.
- Experience in infusion settings is required; at least 5 years is highly desired.
- Direct experience with infusion referral and intake processes is essential.
- Familiarity with benefits verification and prior authorizations for infusion therapies is necessary.
- Strong organizational abilities and meticulous attention to detail are crucial.
- Capability to handle a high volume of referrals and manage competing priorities effectively.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required.
- Experience engaging with referring providers, patients, and internal healthcare teams is necessary.
- Knowledge of WeInfuse and/or InfuseFlow is preferred.
- Experience with other similar infusion, referral, specialty pharmacy, or patient access systems may be considered.
- Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision in a fully remote environment.
