Job Summary
The Registered Nurse (RN) for the Electrophysiology (EP) Laboratory plays a crucial role in delivering specialized nursing care to patients undergoing electrophysiological procedures. This position involves collaborating with a dedicated team of healthcare professionals to ensure high-quality patient outcomes and providing support throughout the patient’s experience in the EP lab.
Responsibilities
- Administer patient assessments pre-procedure to ensure readiness for electrophysiology interventions.
- Assist physicians during EP procedures, maintaining a sterile environment and ensuring patient comfort.
- Monitor patients’ vital signs and provide immediate care as needed during and after procedures.
- Document patient information and care provided accurately and timely.
- Educate patients and their families about procedure plans, potential risks, and post-procedure care.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient safety and care in the laboratory.
Qualifications
- Active RN licensure in the state of practice.
- Experience in a clinical setting, preferably in an EP or cardiac environment.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills for effective patient interaction.
- Ability to function well in a team-oriented and fast-paced environment.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification; Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification preferred.
- Knowledge of electrophysiology procedures and equipment is an advantage.
