Senior Electrical Engineer

SUMMARY
The Senior Electrical Engineer plays a critical role in collecting and evaluating technical data necessary for formulating foundational electrical engineering designs for various client initiatives. This includes areas such as Power, Lighting & Electrical Distribution, preparing Electrical One-Line Drawings, conducting Electrical Load Studies, implementing Protective Relaying, performing Arc Flash Studies, compiling Power Equipment Lists (including Transformers, Switchgear, Motors, UPS, etc.), and completing Area Classifications along with additional electrical schematics and drawings. The position requires engagement with clients on-site, potentially involving hands-on tasks as part of the design process.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Conducts engineering calculations and develops detailed plans
- Oversees a project team of designers and engineers, ensuring effective collaboration among team members, as well as communication with other departments, suppliers, and clients
- Gathers, organizes, and analyzes data to undertake comprehensive engineering calculations
- Specifies essential power system components including switchgear, unit substations, motor control centers, drive systems, grounding systems, and lighting solutions
- Produces electrical load studies, control schematics, and detailed electrical engineering documents
- Utilizes engineering design software and technological tools to complete technical tasks
- Supports field operations by coordinating on-site execution, inspecting installations, troubleshooting, and managing maintenance and repair of equipment and systems
- Acts as Project Lead for specialized projects, responsible for estimating project timeframes, defining scope, recommending personnel, and reviewing technical drawings
- Ensures adherence to all relevant policies, procedures, and standards
- Adheres to safety protocols and procedures, reporting unsafe conditions while ensuring proper use of tools and materials
- Undertakes additional responsibilities as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS
- Must possess a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited institution; PE licensure is preferred
- Field experience is necessary
- A minimum of 12 to 30 years of professional experience in fields such as Chemicals, Petrochemicals, Polymers, Utility, Energy, or Manufacturing
- Expertise in protective relaying, short circuit studies, lighting systems, power system equipment specifications, NFPA 30, NEC or NFPA 70, relevant building codes, arc flash standards, hazardous area classification in process industries, and wiring standards
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel), Revit, and AutoCAD (3D capability preferred), as well as EasyPower or comparable modeling software
- Experience with P&ID’s, PFD’s, loop diagrams, installation details, and conduit and cable schedules
