Senior Hardware Engineer

Job Summary

We are on the lookout for a Senior Hardware Development Engineer who will become an integral part of a dynamic team focused on creating innovative industrial automation and control solutions. This position encompasses the complete hardware product development process, involving circuit design, prototyping, hardware validation, testing, troubleshooting, documentation creation, and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.

Responsibilities

  • Engage in designing and developing hardware for novel industrial automation and control solutions, covering system architecture and hardware validation.
  • Program, analyze, test, and resolve issues with electronic hardware prototypes.
  • Interpret schematics and leverage circuit theory to address intricate hardware challenges.
  • Create comprehensive product design documentation, including test plans and technical reports.
  • Utilize various lab test instruments such as oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and other electronic testing equipment.
  • Assist in implementing test automation and simulation of designs.
  • Investigate and assess emerging technologies, design tools, and development techniques in hardware.
  • Diagnose hardware malfunctions and spearhead initiatives to enhance product performance and reliability.
  • Collaborate effectively with cross-functional engineering teams throughout the hardware development process.
  • Contribute actively to an Agile development setting while promoting engineering best practices.
  • Guide and mentor junior engineers, offering technical support and knowledge.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • A minimum of 5 years of practical experience with cross-functional hardware and product development.
  • Solid foundation in circuit theory and electronic hardware design principles.
  • Proficient with design capture tools and the process of schematic development.
  • Familiarity with microprocessors, digital logic, analog circuits, DC power conversion, and CPLDs/FPGAs.
  • Practical experience handling electronic test tools, including oscilloscopes and logic analyzers.
  • Preferred background in industrial control systems, PLCs, and functional safety design methods.
  • Knowledge of safety/regulatory standards such as IEC 61508, IEC 61000, or EMC is advantageous.
  • Experience within a scaled Agile environment is a plus.
  • Exceptional skills in communication, documentation, problem-solving, and organization.
  • Proven capability to take initiative, mentor team members, and work collaboratively within an engineering team.
  • Must possess U.S. work authorization; note that there is no current or future sponsorship available.
