Job description
Job Summary
The SPD Assistant plays a crucial role in supporting the proper functioning and organization of sterile processing departments. This position involves assisting with the cleaning, sterilization, and maintenance of surgical instruments and equipment, ensuring that all procedures meet established standards and regulations.
Responsibilities
- Assist in the cleaning, decontaminating, and sterilizing of surgical instruments.
- Prepare and package surgical tools for storage and distribution.
- Maintain accurate records of sterilization procedures and inventory supplies.
- Adhere to safety protocols and infection control standards.
- Support the training and orientation of new staff in the department.
- Monitor and manage the workflow in the sterile processing area.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent; certification in sterile processing is preferred.
- Experience in a healthcare setting, especially in SPD is advantageous.
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions accurately.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work well with a team.
