Job Summary
The Step Down/Oncology position focuses on providing specialized nursing care for patients recovering from oncological procedures, specifically in the fields of ENT (Ear, Nose, and Throat), Colorectal, and Urology. The role demands a keen understanding of post-operative care, patient monitoring, and the ability to manage complex medical conditions in a step-down unit while supporting the recovery of patients undergoing treatment for cancer and related surgeries.
Responsibilities
- Deliver personalized nursing care to step-down patients post-surgery within the oncology setting.
- Continuously monitor patients’ vital signs and clinical status to ensure stable recovery.
- Collaborate with healthcare teams to develop and implement effective care plans based on individual patient needs.
- Administer prescribed medications and treatments while documenting the process accurately in patient records.
- Educate patients and their families about post-operative care and recovery expectations.
- Respond to any changes in patients’ conditions promptly, ensuring necessary interventions are carried out.
Qualifications
- Active nursing license in the relevant state or jurisdiction.
- Previous experience in oncology nursing or a related specialty is preferred.
- Strong assessment and critical thinking skills to evaluate patient conditions.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary healthcare team.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with patients and families.
- Must have the ability to handle stressful situations with composure and professionalism.
