Job description
Job Summary
The Sterile Processing Technician plays a crucial role in healthcare by ensuring that all surgical instruments and medical devices are properly sterilized and maintained for patient safety. This position is vital in supporting the surgical team and facilitating efficient operations within the healthcare facility.
Responsibilities
- Oversee the cleaning, sterilization, and storage of medical equipment and surgical instruments.
- Utilize sterilization equipment and follow protocols to ensure compliance with safety regulations.
- Maintain accurate records of sterilization processes and inventory of supplies.
- Conduct routine inspections of sterilized items to confirm they meet established standards.
- Assist with training new staff in sterilization procedures and safety protocols.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent; relevant certification in sterile processing is preferred.
- Knowledge of sterilization techniques and infection control standards.
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate with clinical staff.
