Job Summary
The Sterile Processing Technician plays a critical role in the healthcare sector by ensuring that surgical instruments and equipment are properly cleaned, sterilized, and prepared for use in medical procedures. This position is pivotal in maintaining high standards of cleanliness and safety, thereby contributing to effective patient care.
Responsibilities
- Clean and sterilize medical instruments and equipment according to established guidelines.
- Inspect and test instruments to ensure they are in proper working condition.
- Manage inventory of sterile supplies and report any deficiencies.
- Maintain accurate records of sterilization processes and equipment maintenance.
- Collaborate with healthcare team members to meet surgical needs and schedules.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional training in sterile processing is preferred.
- Certification as a Sterile Processing Technician is advantageous.
- Knowledge of sterilization techniques and standards.
- Attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
