Job Summary
The Sterile Processing Technician plays a pivotal role in the healthcare setting, ensuring that all surgical instruments and equipment are properly sterilized, maintained, and accessible for medical procedures. The technician is responsible for upholding the highest standards of hygiene and safety in the processing of materials used in patient care.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and sterilize surgical instruments and equipment according to established protocols.
- Conduct thorough inspections of instruments for cleanliness and functionality before and after use.
- Maintain accurate records of sterilization processes and ensure compliance with safety regulations.
- Collaborate with medical staff to ensure timely availability of necessary instruments for surgeries.
- Manage inventory of sterile supplies and reorder when necessary to maintain stock levels.
- Participate in continuous education and training related to sterile processing best practices and advancements.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent; completion of a Sterile Processing program is preferred.
- Certification in Sterile Processing through an accredited organization is advantageous.
- Strong attention to detail and adherence to health and safety standards.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment and under pressure.
- Excellent communication skills for effective collaboration with healthcare professionals.
- Prior experience in a sterile processing role is beneficial but not mandatory.
