Job Summary
The Sterile Processing Technician plays a crucial role in managing and ensuring the cleanliness, safety, and functionality of surgical instruments and medical equipment. This position is essential for maintaining sterile environments in medical facilities, thus directly contributing to patient safety and effective healthcare delivery.
Responsibilities
- Receive, decontaminate, and process surgical instruments and equipment following established protocols.
- Conduct thorough inspections of instruments for functionality and cleanliness.
- Perform sterilization procedures utilizing various methods, including steam, hydrogen peroxide, or ethylene oxide.
- Accurately document the sterilization processes and results in compliance with regulatory standards.
- Ensure proper storage and organization of sterile supplies and instruments.
- Collaborate with surgical and medical teams to provide necessary instruments for procedures.
- Adhere to safety and infection control protocols to minimize risks.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional training in sterile processing preferred.
- Certification as a Sterile Processing Technician is advantageous.
- Strong understanding of sterilization techniques and infection control principles.
- Attention to detail and ability to follow precise procedures.
- Effective communication skills and capacity to work in a team-oriented environment.
