Job Summary
The Sterile Processing Technician plays a crucial role in ensuring that surgical instruments and medical equipment are cleaned, sterilized, and maintained in adherence to safety and health regulations. This position is vital for facilitating efficient healthcare services and supporting various clinical departments.
Responsibilities
- Efficiently decontaminate and sterilize surgical instruments and medical devices.
- Inspect, assemble, and package surgical trays according to established protocols and standards.
- Maintain accurate records of sterilization processes and equipment maintenance.
- Adhere to infection control and safety guidelines while handling sterile items.
- Coordinate with other healthcare professionals to ensure timely availability of instruments for surgeries.
- Participate in ongoing training and education on sterilization techniques and safety standards.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional certification in sterile processing preferred.
- Knowledge of sterilization methods and infection control practices.
- Attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure and maintain a high level of accuracy.
