Job description
Job Summary
The Sterile Processing Technician plays a crucial role in the healthcare setting by ensuring that all surgical instruments and medical devices are properly sterilized and maintained. This position requires attention to detail and adherence to strict safety standards to prevent infections and ensure patient safety.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and sterilize surgical instruments for use in various medical procedures.
- Perform cleaning, disinfection, and sterilization of medical equipment according to established protocols.
- Inspect, assemble, and package surgical tools prior to sterilization.
- Monitor and maintain sterilization equipment and work areas to ensure compliance with health regulations.
- Keep accurate records of sterilization processes to ensure traceability and compliance with safety standards.
- Assist in inventory management of sterile supplies and instruments.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent; certification in sterile processing preferred.
- Knowledge of sterilization procedures and infection control protocols.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with medical staff and adhere to safety guidelines.
- Good communication skills and attention to detail.
