The Sterilization Coordinator is responsible for managing the decontamination, cleaning, assembly, and sterilization of surgical instruments and medical devices. This role ensures adherence to regulations, oversees inventory management, and coordinates operational workflows.
Responsibilities of the Sterilization Coordinator:
- Handle routine sterilization processes for medical devices.
- Manage the sterilization test samples for medical devices.
- Maintain accurate records and oversee documentation procedures.
- Provide guidance to clients throughout the sterilization process.
- Implement validation procedures.
- Handle processing of biological indicators.
- Manage the day-to-day operations of the laboratory, ensuring organization and cleanliness.
- Support the VP of Sterilization Technologies in growth initiatives.
- Comply with safety regulations, quality standards, and company policies.
- Execute all tasks efficiently and safely.
- Take on additional responsibilities as needed to achieve departmental and company goals.
Qualifications for the Sterilization Coordinator:
- Bachelor’s degree in a scientific discipline (Biology, Microbiology, Chemistry), Engineering, or a related area.
- Two to five years of experience in the medical device or pharmaceutical sectors, with knowledge of sterilization processes.
- Preferred experience with global regulatory standards and quality compliance.
- Experience in sterilization aspects of 510(k)/IDE/PMA submissions and other international filings is an advantage.
- Professional demeanor with strong interpersonal and customer service capabilities.
- Proven time management skills with the ability to juggle multiple tasks effectively.
- Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
- Proactive in taking responsibility and seeing tasks through to completion.
- Able to work independently, as well as in a team environment, driving projects to successful completion.
- Adaptability in a fast-paced setting with the capacity to handle changing priorities.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with proficient decision-making abilities.
- Reliable and punctual, with a strong work ethic and a positive attitude.
