Job Summary
The Substance Abuse Counselor plays a crucial role in providing support and guidance to individuals grappling with addiction and substance use disorders. This professional is responsible for assessing clients’ needs, facilitating therapeutic interventions, and collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to foster recovery and enhance overall well-being.
Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive assessments to identify the specific needs and goals of clients.
- Design and implement personalized treatment plans based on individual assessments.
- Facilitate individual and group counseling sessions to promote coping strategies and recovery skills.
- Monitor and document clients’ progress throughout the treatment process.
- Provide crisis intervention and support to clients in urgent situations.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals to create a holistic care approach for clients.
- Educate clients and families about addiction issues and available resources.
- Maintain confidentiality and comply with legal and ethical standards in substance abuse counseling.
Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Counseling, Psychology, Social Work, or a related field.
- Valid licensure or certification as a Substance Abuse Counselor.
- Experience in substance abuse treatment and counseling.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively with diverse client populations.
- Knowledge of addiction theory, practices, and the treatment process.
