Job Summary
The Surgical Technician First Assist plays a crucial role in the operating room by directly supporting surgeons during surgical procedures. This position involves maintaining a sterile environment and managing surgical instruments, as well as assisting in vital tasks such as tissue dissection, controlling bleeding, and closing wounds to promote the best possible outcomes for patients.
Responsibilities
- Support surgeons during operations by ensuring a sterile working environment.
- Handle and manage surgical instruments effectively.
- Assist with tissue dissection and control of hemorrhage.
- Participate in wound closure to ensure patient safety and recovery.
- Facilitate optimal patient outcomes by adhering to surgical protocols.
Qualifications
- 1-3 years of experience in an acute care setting is required.
- Must possess relevant certifications, such as CST and CSFA or CSA.
- Strong knowledge of surgical techniques and human anatomy.
- Familiarity with infection control standards is essential.
